When bioMerieux, a world leader in microbiology based in France, purchased Salt Lake City’s dynamic molecular diagnostics company BioFire Diagnostics, they quickly went to work building a state-of-the-art headquarters. Only 18 short months later in May, they were ready to celebrate the new partnership with the dedication of the Alain Mérieux Center for Molecular Diagnostics. French culture, American dynamism, and the goal of improving world-wide healthcare drove the vision for the two-day celebratory affair. Because BioFire employed over 1300 people, there was no space large enough to host the entire company at the same time. And because the scope of the event was on such a large magnitude, we worked with executives to create several opportunities for employees to come together to celebrate the building dedication, the partnership, and their daily work.
The kick-off was held at Abravanel Hall with a commissioned performance by the Utah Symphony. Day two saw the entire company congregate in a football field-sized tent for the official dedication.
The space was elegantly designed and located in front of the new building. Every detail was looked over with care, right down to the blue carpet. A post-event reception included passed hors d’oeuvres, champagne, Bandaloop dancers who performed on the exterior of the new building and capped off with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony.
